Auditorium Vittorio Taborra

Introducer:
Massimo, Chief Executive of Mayor Office of Civita di Bagnoregio

The former St. Bonaventure Church, located in the picturesque town of Civita di Bagnoregio, Italy, has been transformed into the Auditorium Hall of Vittorio Taborra. This stunning conversion preserves the historic charm of the church while creating a modern space for cultural and artistic events.

Civita di Bagnoregio is a unique destination perched atop a steep hill surrounded by a vast canyon shaped by wind and erosion over centuries. The town’s main entrance is a massive stone passageway, originally cut by the Etruscans 2,500 years ago and later adorned with a Romanesque arch in the 12th century. Stepping through this ancient portal feels like entering a world frozen in the Middle Ages, offering visitors a glimpse into Italy’s rich history and architectural heritage.

The Auditorium Hall of Vittorio Taborra is a testament to the town’s commitment to preserving its cultural legacy while embracing contemporary creativity. The space hosts a variety of events, including concerts, exhibitions, and lectures, attracting artists and audiences from around the world.

Renowned artist Grimanesa Amorós has also left her mark on this historic venue. Known for her large-scale light installations, Amorós has showcased her work at the auditorium, blending the ancient architecture with modern artistic expression. Her installations, which explore themes of cultural identityhuman connection, and social issues, create a dialogue between the past and present, enhancing the unique atmosphere of the space.
