Roger Smith’s artistic director, Matt Semler, has a knack for setting the mood: An upright piano sits in the downstairs bar, and a fishbowl art gallery adjacent to the lobby showcases more than 20 public art installations each year, like January’s spooky La Incubadora, by Peruvian artist Grimanesa Amorós.
